ENUMCLAW, Wash., July 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. On July 26th Scouts all over North America will look to A.P. Hill, Virginia for the National Jamboree – a huge Scout gathering held once every four years.

To date, Boy Scout membership since 1910 has reached the 112 million mark. In 2007 alone, almost three million youths participated in The Boy Scouts of America. According to the Boy Scouts survey, nearly sixty percent of the 110th Congress participated in Scouting.

Author and speaker Eleanor Clark is on a personal mission to see one million new Boy Scouts recruited and a nation changed for the better. As a third generation scouting grandmother, she feels training young people is the only way to reclaim our nation.

"A country is only as strong as its youngest citizens. Reach the children with fundamental values, and you reach a nation. Scouting does just that, I've seen it in my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren," says Clark.

Through her new book, The Legacy of Lord Baden-Powell, a fiction narrative about the founder of the Scouting movement, Eleanor Clark lays the groundwork to reach as many boys as possible. Her intent is to rally current Scouts to learn the history of Scouting while earning their Scouting Legacy activity badge and recruiting other boys in the process.

Eleanor's extensive nationwide recruiting campaign incorporates television, and radio, book signings, and speaking engagements. She also speaks at elementary schools, Boy Scout troops, civic organizations, and churches across the country. She was recently interviewed by KTVI, Fox 2 TV in St. Louis, MO.

Raised during the Great Depression, multi-award winning author Eleanor Clark's books focus on the importance of history, patriotism, and love for God and country. Eleanor and her husband Lee have been married for over 57 years. The Clarks live in Texas.
