GREENVILLE, SC, Sept. 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- Eric Swenson was a hurting, part-time single dad who heard God speak to him, while working in Mexico City, Mexico. In obedience, he leaned over and prayed for a disfigured, older woman racked with pain. That day God birthed in Eric an idea. Nine months later Swenson delivered a powerful, new ministry that changed his life and the lives of countless thousands who received the life-sustaining medical supplies he recycled from U.S. hospitals.

Eric's book The Birthing of A God Idea www.ericswenson.org/book is a timely salve for a nation enduring the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. Speaking from personal experience, Eric claims Jeremiah 29:11 for ministry and corporate executives shaken by career and personal crises. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

"Not unlike a fetus in the womb developing limbs, digits and other recognizably human features," Eric writes, "the great thing about the birthing process of a God idea is that if you get to know His voice, all you have to do is show up each day and learn to listen."

Eric's God Idea bloomed into a thriving mission organization, and then he founded a second company that was the world's first medical dotcom receiving coverage in the New York Times and impacting a $33 billion industry.

However, Eric didn't always listen to God's instruction. While in his twenties, he made drugs, promiscuity, and alpine ski racing his god. Eventually, a painful divorce, the death of his mother and leaving a corporate job deeply submerged him to a place where he wanted to die. But God found him when he accepted a friend's invitation to attend church. There, he recommitted his life to follow Christ.

"Human beings must learn to dream big once again," Swenson encourages. "Once they break the self-imposed chains of intellectual limitation, they'll see that God has endowed them with the ability to accomplish more than they could ever imagine."

As an executive coach and entrepreneur for the last 30 years, Eric asks his clients, "How BIG would you dream, if you knew you couldn't fail with God?" While dispelling common misconceptions of instant gratification and shortcuts in business and personal fulfillment, he prescribes a plan based on Habakkuk 2:3: write down your vision; develop a business plan; pray about the vision; find people to keep you accountable; seek wisdom; invest in and serve others along the way; and persist.

According to a business survey, only 42 percent of companies use a formal business plan. Eric's response, "When life happens, what is your plan?" For information, please visit online at www.ericswenson.org.
