ENUMCLAW, Wash., May 24, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Elizabeth Hynd was serving in Hong Kong as a missionary when King Mswati III of Swaziland, Africa, personally asked her to return to the country of her birth. As the daughter of missionary parents, Elizabeth felt as if God were alerting her to the desperate plight of children in Swaziland who have been orphaned because of AIDS. "I could not ignore a call from the King of Swaziland and the King of kings, God our Father," she says.

She learned that half of the population in Swaziland is infected with the HIV/AIDS virus. In fact, so many adults have died in the pandemic that now 10 percent of the nation's households are headed by children. Orphans are caring for orphans.

Dr. Elizabeth, together with Reverend June McKinney, set out to establish a home for orphaned children and saw God work many miracles so New Hope Centre could open in 2003. "In a nation where life expectancy is only 29 years and the bulk of parents and adult professionals have died of HIV/AIDS, predictions are that by 2020, no adult leadership will be left in the nation," reports Dr. Elizabeth.

"However, through the ministry of New Hope Centre, these children are learning what they need to know to be confident leaders trained in academics, sports, dance, the arts, and social graces while maintaining a strong faith in Jesus Christ." Her goal is to see the children become leaders who can assist King Mswati III, the last absolute monarch in Africa, in taking the country to a new place of prominence among the nations of the world.

Dr. Hynd's book, "A Little Child Shall Lead Them" (WinePress 2011) shares the amazing story of the New Hope Centre.

"Despite all that they come from, there is purity in the heart of a child," Dr. Elizabeth says. "There is no vengeance inside these children -- no right that has taken hold of them or hardened their hearts. They are pure and simply seeking for someone to care for them, someone to love them."
