ST. LOUIS, Mo., June 20, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Organization creates new scholarship for students who don't use loans to pay for college. According to ASA.org, "48% of 25-34 year-olds say they're unemployed or under-employed." Coupled with the ever-rising levels of student loan debt upon graduation, many recent grads find themselves in a tough financial position.

Additionally, rates on subsidized Stafford loans are set to double on July 1 if congress doesn't act.

In response to this, one organization, a website called Christian Personal Finance, is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students who choose not to take out any college loans.

"I am hearing from more and more students who are choosing to avoid student loans and find creative ways to pay for college, and I want to use this scholarship to reward them for that," says Bob Lotich, the organization's founder.

The scholarship is available for college-aged students 17-22 who have not taken out any student loans and have a plan to pay for college themselves. Applicants must explain how and why they plan on paying for college without going into debt by creating a short video.

Applicants can apply and submit their video at christianpf.com/scholarship.

ChristianPF.com was founded in 2007 and provides personal finance advice from a Biblical perspective. The site offers free email courses, newsletters, and over 1900 articles to help consumers manage their finances.
