CINCINNATI, Ohio, Aug. 22, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Standard Publishing is pleased to introduce its newly-refreshed HeartShaper® Sunday school program, featuring the curriculum's first major update in nearly seven years.

Standard Publishing revised the HeartShaper toddler-to-preteen curriculum with a refreshed, contemporary design. The curriculum features artwork from nationally recognized illustrators, including National Geographic Kids and Weekly Reader. It also includes updated activities and lessons designed to teach children how to study God's Word on their own, instilling Bible skills they'll use the rest of their lives. Each HeartShaper age level builds on the skills taught in the previous session.

"These dramatic HeartShaper improvements were based on extensive research, combined with our desire to make the teaching guides much more user-friendly for Sunday School teachers," said Stephanie Woeste, Vice President of Marketing for Standard Publishing. "The curriculum also offers an optional, fully-customizable teacher guide, so classrooms can put individual touches on each lesson with an easy-to-use downloadable Microsoft® Word file."

The HeartShaper curriculum features six age-appropriate levels with teacher guides, teaching resources, student activities, take home materials, online resources and more, all working together to take HeartShaper kids through the Bible five times by the sixth grade.

Notably, the updated curriculum now features a dedicated focus on special needs, including a free quarterly newsletter with adaptable lessons for special needs children.

"HeartShaper is committed to providing teachers with resources to adapt activities and lessons to fully include children with special needs in Sunday School classrooms," Woeste said. "Every quarter, HeartShaper users can download a free newsletter that offers specific ways to customize lessons for children with a wide variety of special needs, from Autism and Down Syndrome to unique sensory disorders and more. The lessons provide specific direction for making sure our special needs students are included in activities and lessons in a way that best works for them."

HeartShaper is also sponsoring an ongoing conversation about special needs, in partnership with CM Connect and host Vangie Rodenbeck, on www.blogtalkradio.com. For complete details, visit www.HeartShaper.com and click on "Special Needs."

In addition, the new and improved HeartShaper curriculum will feature artwork from Sunday school students nationwide next year. Children are invited to design the HeartShaper curriculum covers for Fall 2014 with the theme, "Jesus Loves Me!" Six winners will receive $500 for their Sunday School classroom. Details, rules and eligibility can be found at www.HeartShaper.com.
