PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 22, 2022 /Christian Newswire/ -- This year, OCP celebrates its 100th anniversary. Founded in 1922 as the Catholic Truth Society of Oregon, the company started by publishing apologetic pamphlets to counter the anti-Catholic misinformation and persecution promulgated by the Ku Klux Klan in Oregon. It went on to incorporate the Catholic Sentinel, which continues to be one of the most successful, award-winning diocesan newspapers in the United States. In 1934, the company began publishing the historic My Sunday Missal to help people participate more fully in the liturgy.

By the later part of the 20th century, OCP grew from an informative service organization to one of the most trusted publishers of Catholic music and liturgical resources in the world. OCP is now best known for its beloved Catholic music and missals, like Breaking Bread and Today's Missal.

"While the materials and methods may change, our work in the future will continue to be: putting the Gospel into the hands and onto the lips of the people of God, and helping them, through the highest-quality music, to sing his praise, primarily in the most holy sacrifice of the Mass," says OCP publisher Wade Wisler.

With 100 years of experience, OCP is equipped and ready to respond to the needs of today's pastoral musicians and worshiping communities. Not many companies are able to celebrate a centennial, and OCP will be commemorating this significant achievement throughout the year with a number of exciting events, promotions and more.
