JERUSALEM, Israel, Feb. 26, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, a top Israeli Medical Center located about 15 km from Tel Aviv and Living Bread International Church have announced the formation of a new joint project called "Rescue the Child." "Rescue the Child" is providing much needed medical care for babies and children from the West Bank and Gaza. This groundbreaking venture unites the noted Israeli Medical Center with the church based in Jerusalem, to reach out in compassion and love to those to which many have deemed the enemies of Israel.

Aharon Cholow, the Director of International Resources from the Friends of Assaf Harofeh and Karen Dunham, Director of Living Bread International Church have teamed up to spearhead this groundbreaking project. This initiative has already cleared border and governmental holds from both sides and has the coordination of patients moving out of the Gaza Strip for much needed medical treatment.

"It is such a move of God to reach out in love and compassion to children, who are in a state of hopelessness. Isn't it like God to team up a Church and a Jewish hospital to show love to the enemies of Israel during this time?" stated Karen Dunham, Director of Living Bread International Church.

Dunham is recognized for acts of compassion, educational projects, and feeding the poor. Karen has been called 'The Mother Theresa of Israel' by news sources. The staff cares for Jewish orphans at Living Bread. Karen has recently released an inspiring book on her remarkable life called, "Pushing the Pillars."

Aharon Cholow has worked with both Christians and Jews to raise awareness and support for Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, which is a teaching hospital with a global reach. Assaf Harofeh stretches over 65 acres, employees over 3,000 staff and has the largest Academic Nursing School in Israel.

"I believe that as an Israeli citizen we always have a right to defend ourselves from any aggression, However, we will always stretch out our hand for peace and show compassion to the suffering of children," Cholow commented.

Karen Dunham and Aharon Cholow are in the US, raising awareness for "Rescue the Child" through interviews, telethons, fund raising events, and meetings. For more information contact: info@rescuethechild.com
