MEDIA ADVISORY, Dec. 1, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- The following media alert is submitted by The Maximus Group:

What: Panel of experts discuss implementation of the Third Translation of the Roman Missal in the U.S. Roman Catholic Church, and the impact the new translation has already had.

When: 11:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, Dec. 6, 2011

Where: The press conference will take place by telephone.

Who: All interested media. Media who wish to participate MUST RSVP (see details below). Mark your calendar for this Dec. 6 tele-press conference!

Info: Roman Catholics in the English speaking world began using a new translation of the Roman Missal -- one that provides a more literal English translation from the original Latin texts of the prayers used during celebration of the Mass -- on Nov. 27, the first Sunday of Advent and the start of a new liturgical year in the Church. Many people are still questioning the change. Why now? Why at all? Do the new responses and priestly prayers impact what Catholics believe? Are lay Catholics learning anything new from this translation? How about the priests and Bishops? What about music? Children? How long until we "get it"?

Panelists: Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Dr. Edward Sri and Matt Maher will headline a panel of experts who will be available to comment.

Cardinal Donald Wuerl is the Archbishop of Washington, D.C. Pope Benedict XVI elevated him to the College of Cardinals in 2010. Cardinal Wuerl is known nationally for his catechetical and teaching ministry, and for his dedication to Catholic education. Dr. Edward Sri, S.T.D., is provost and professor of theology and Scripture at the Augustine Institute, and founding leader with Curtis Martin of FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students). Dr. Sri holds a doctorate from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. He is the author of A Biblical Walk Through the Mass, published by Ascension Press. The book and companion DVD study series were used by many parishes around the country in preparation for the implementation of the new Roman Missal.

Matt Maher is a Grammy-nominated and Dove (Gospel Music Association) Award-winning musician who has been writing music for the Church for more than a decade. His composition for the Litany of the Saints was part of the Papal Vigil at 2002 World Youth Day in Toronto, Canada.
