MORRISTOWN, N.J., May 22, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Liquid Church, one of New Jersey's fastest growing churches, is leading a multi-city community service campaign responding to the urgent needs of various social service organizations. Liquid Church is celebrating its 5-year anniversary in 2012. And instead of presents or a celebration in its honor, the church is asking hundreds of members to give back to some of the most underserved populations, such as those with HIV/AIDS, the homeless and families without food security.

On Saturday, May 26th, 375 volunteers will renovate the "Eric Johnson House" at NJ AIDS Services, which has served over 5,000 men and women with HIV/AIDS to date. Project work involving over $20,000 in materials and services includes: re-carpeting; installation of new kitchen appliances, lighting and fixtures, bedroom furniture; re-upholstering living area furniture; applying fresh paint and hauling away a basement and a garage full of junk.

Liquid Church, which also has campuses in New Brunswick and Nutley, is coordinating similar large-scale community service projects in those cities during the weekend of June 1-2.

On June 1-2, an extreme makeover during a 24-hour marathon will take place in New Brunswick at Elijah's Promise Soup Kitchen, which serves over 100,000 meals a year. Over 200 volunteers have signed-up to build kitchen shelving and organization, install new lighting and fixtures, replace bathroom fixtures, purchase and install café furniture and repaint the facility. Total budget for the construction project exceeds $20,000. The church will also host a BBQ so that Elijah's Promise can continue to serve clients while under construction.

An additional 175 volunteers are scheduled for various service projects throughout Nutley on June 2. Projects include refurbishing the American Red Cross food bank facility, installation of new landscaping at the Nutley Elementary, Middle & High Schools as well as helping several families in need identified by the Nutley Services Bureau with home improvement projects. Over $20,000 will be spent across the various Nutley sites.

Tim Lucas, lead pastor of Liquid Church noted, "At Liquid, we believe the best way to demonstrate our love for God is by loving our neighbors in need. We want to challenge Christians to put their faith into action by helping the homeless, the hungry, and the hurting all across New Jersey this Spring."

Liquid Church is one of NJ's fastest-growing Christian churches. Founded in 2001 by Lead Pastor Tim Lucas, the church's vision is to "take church to the people" with campuses in Morristown, New Brunswick, and Nutley. Nearly 2,500 people experience Liquid's worship services each weekend in New Jersey and around the globe through Church Online. As a part of its global outreach Liquid provides clean drinking water to the poorest of the poor with dozens of completed projects in Ethiopia, Central African Republic, Haiti and El Salvador.
