NASHVILLE, Feb. 4, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Egyptian-American human rights activist and author Nonie Darwish is speaking out on the current political upheaval in Egypt. Darwish has made several national news appearances this week, including the FOX News Network's "Fox & Friends" and "Hannity."

Co-founder of Former Muslims United and having authored books like "Cruel and Usual Punishment," a sociological analyst of Sharia's impact on women, men, family, and society, Darwish is an expert on Muslim culture. She was called upon by FOX News Network programs "Fox & Friends" and "Hannity" this week to join their panel of experts in discussing the current political climate in Egypt and its social as well as political ramifications.

In addition to television appearances, Darwish penned an editorial for Huffington Post and FrontPageMag.com. On Monday, Jan. 31 in FrontPageMag.com she writes, "The choice in Egypt is not between good and bad, it is between bad and worse" I fear that my brothers and sisters in Egypt will end up embracing extremism instead of true democracy and thus will continue to rise and fall, stumble from one revolution to another, and live under one tyrant to another, looking for the ideal Islamic state that never was "Sharia must be rejected if Egyptians want true democracy and freedom."
