WHEATON, Ill., March 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- In response to the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Chile Saturday, February 27th, Bright Hope has partnered with First Baptist Church of Wheaton to host a Chicago area clothing and shoe drive. Bright Hope's Partner Developer in Santiago, Chile, Mark Lennox (a native of Wheaton) called upon the church and Bright Hope to assist with the most urgent needs at this time in the areas affected by the earthquake.

"Winter is coming soon to Chile and the immediate need is for coats, rain gear and other clothes that can help the Chilean people manage through the inclement weather while infrastructure and stability are restored to the areas of Concepcion, Pelluhue and Chanco." Mark states. Immediately after the quake Lennox helped to coordinate shipments of relief materials such as rice, pasta, sugar, long-life milk, water and shovels and now sees the needs for additional clothing, boots, shoes and supplies.

You can help! Bright Hope is asking people in the Chicagoland area to collect needed items for people living in the small towns located around the earthquakes epicenter. On April 15th through 17th we will be collecting clothes and other supplies to send in a shipment to Chile.

Please bring any of the following gently used or new items: winter/rain shoes and clothes; blankets and sleeping bags; kitchen supplies (pots, pans, dishes, silverware), shovels, 4-6 person tents, and school supplies (NEW only; paper, pens, pencils, crayons, erasers, markers, etc.) to the drop-off site at First Baptist Church of Wheaton, 1310 North Main Street, Wheaton, IL 60187 on April 15-17.
