PALM DESERT, Calif., Jan. 19 /Christian Newswire/ -- Two key organizations are holding annual meetings in conjunction in order to dialog, discuss, and prayerfully design a strategy of how to "love America to Christ" through evangelism in the next decade.

The National City Impact Roundtable (NCIR)'s "Convergence" meeting and The Mission America Coalition (MAC)'s "Accelerate 2010" will meet March 1-4 in Birmingham, Ala. The meetings will include shared plenary sessions with speakers John Perkins, Dave Olson, and Paul Cedar.

NCIR Convergence is for "cityreachers" - any individuals whose focus is to reach whole communities for Christ. The theme of the event is "Four Streams of Cityreaching: Presence-based, Marketplace, Community Development, and Evangelistic." Convergence speakers on these topics include Glenn Barth; Tom White; George Otis, Jr.; Bob Varney; Kent Humphreys; John Perkins, and others.

MAC's Accelerate 2010 opens with John Perkins speaking on "A Love the Lost Can See." Researcher Dave Olson will report on the current state of the Church and evangelism in America. Paul Cedar, MAC chairman, and researcher David Kinnaman of the Barna Group will also speak, and Accelerate 2010 participants will become a working group, strategizing about working together to accelerate the Great Commission in the next decade.

MAC invites participation from every arena of the evangelizing Church--evangelism directors and coordinators; leaders of denominations, ministry organizations, and networks; pastors; persons of influence in the marketplace; cityreachers; city impact catalysts and conveners; lay people involved in evangelism; youth leaders, and more. The goal is to take away tangible, follow-up steps and strategies that each ministry can adapt to its own situation.

The Convergence event begins March 1 at noon and concludes March 3 at noon; Accelerate 2010 begins at 7 p.m. March 2 and concludes at noon on March 4. Both meetings will honor Dr. John Perkins on his 80th birthday for his 50 years of ministry with a dessert reception March 2.

"Partnership Training 101" is also offered - an intensive training to equip ministry leaders with effective tools and methods for partnering with others. This training begins Sunday evening, Feb 28.

Convergence and Accelerate 2010 participants are invited to come early or stay longer to attend the meetings of the other event at no extra charge. Find more information and register online at www.missionamerica.org/register.
