Athletes to be Used for Globalist Purposes: International Olympic Committee Granted Observer Status at UN

MADISON, Wisc., Oct. 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) was granted observer status by the United Nations. This decision was based on the IOC's contribution to the UN's Millennium Development Goals.

The IOC can now participate in UN General Assembly meetings. "This is a huge recognition of the role sport can play in contributing to a better and more peaceful world," IOC President Jacques Rogge said.

Also, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called on athletes and athletic leaders to promote the global climate treaty at the upcoming Copenhagen Climate Conference in December.

Ban Ki-moon believes there is a "race against time" to arrive at a global climate deal. "I appeal to you (athletes) to use your positions and your influence to do your part. But when it comes to fighting for our shared global goals -- for a world that is cleaner, healthier, more peaceful and more prosperous -- I will sprint like an Olympian," said Ban Ki-moon.

The UN promotes causes that have globalist goals, including the climate change treaty. The treaty is declining in popularity, as many scientists are questioning the validity of climate change research.

Underground Apologetics believes the climate change treaty is a push for global governance, as the treaty undermines the U.S. Constitution and the sovereign rights of other countries.

Steve McConkey, President of 4 WINDS which operates Underground Apologetics, believes "athletes should not be used by the IOC and the UN to advance policies that are not in the best interests of the United States and other countries, including Bible believing Christians."

Other questionable policies that the UN advances are in the areas of abortion and homosexuality. The UN says it "does not promote abortion," but allows countries to determine their position on this issue. In other words, they do not oppose abortion.

The UN General Assembly passed a universal declaration to decriminalize homosexuality. Underground Apologetics believes hatred toward any person is wrong, even if a person is involved in sinful behavior. However, the UN declaration may pressure governments to accept same-sex marriages.

He has been involved in track and field ministries since 1981. Underground Apologetics is the first apologetics ministry offered by a sports ministry. During the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 4 WINDS put Olympic athlete testimonies in the Chinese underground church, estimated to be 100 million people.
