EUGENE, Ore., Oct. 10, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Today, MoneyGram, (NYSE: MGI), a leading global money transfer company, announced a $100,000 grant to Holt International Children's Services to support girls in India who are at risk of dropping out of school. An international child welfare organization, Holt sponsors the education of many children in India and other countries. The $100,000 gift to Holt International will help subsidize school fees, and provide school uniforms, books and supplies for 300 girls over a three-year period.
Today's grant announcement coincides with the launch of the MoneyGram Foundation, designed to award grants that support educational opportunities for children around the world.
Today in Bangalore, the girls slated to receive support through Holt will celebrate MoneyGram's gift at a school party sponsored by MoneyGram. In addition to the check presentation, each girl will receive a gift voucher for books. "The generous gift from MoneyGram will allow these girls to stay in school and give them the necessary skills to support themselves in a better environment, and provide an opportunity to have a future place in their society," said Susan Soonkeum Cox, vice president of policy and external affairs at Holt International.
MoneyGram also today announced grants for two other recipients, in total serving children in more than a dozen countries.
