Christmas Begins on GMC this Weekend

American Idols George Huff & Mandisa Kick-Off Gospel Music Channel's Christmas Programming this Weekend

ATLANTA, Nov. 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- This weekend, Gospel Music Channel begins more than a month of world premiere specials, series, music videos and holiday programming to celebrate Christmas 2007. American Idol favorites Mandisa and George Huff launch the GMC Christmas season this Sat. Nov. 24 teaming for the first in a series of exclusive, new world premiere Christmas specials. On Monday, Dec. 10, GMC's primetime line-up will switch to all Christmas programming, with blocks of Christmas music videos nightly. Then on Saturday, Dec. 22, GMC will begin presenting Christmas programming 24 hours a day leading up to a commercial free Christmas day.

Christmas at Union Station: George Huff & Mandisa (9:00 p.m. ET/PT) features Huff and Mandisa singing classic and new music from their respective Christmas CDs. Huff's set includes a medley of "Angels We Have Heard on High/Hark the Herald Angels Sing," "Silent Night," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," a soulful rendition of "Silent Night" and a rousing finish with "Go Tell It On The Mountain." Mandisa takes the stage to perform the Stevie Wonder classic "What Christmas Means to Me," "God Speaking" and a moving new duet with artist/songwriter Matthew West, who doubles as the host for the evening. George and Mandisa team for a duet of "The Christmas Song" to close the show. Christmas at Union Station: George Huff & Mandisa will be seen throughout the holiday season.

Gospel Music Channel's Christmas at Union Station specials will premiere Saturday Dec. 8 and 15. Other instant-Christmas classic shows feature Jars of Clay; Take 6 and Trin-i-tee 5:7; Natalie Grant. West and Jeremy Camp share hosting duties. The final Gospel Music Channel's Christmas at Union Station premiere will feature all-star performance highlights from all the specials. The world premiere schedule for the Gospel Music Channel's Christmas at Union Station specials is as follows:

After a successful debut with True Beauty, American Idol's own Mandisa is celebrating the season with her Christmas Joy. The American Idol alum will be spreading the holiday cheer with her performance for the GMC-sponsored New York Stock Exchange Christmas Tree lighting, which will take place on December 10th. On Christmas Eve, Mandisa will perform live at the Crystal Cathedral, which will be televised worldwide. Mandisa will also perform six tour dates with George Huff while in California in addition to concert dates with Natalie Grant.
