Originating from a story McLellan used to tell his son Sam when he was a young boy, it evolved into a story of inspiration which he wrote in his honor. The book is also dedicated to Fletcher, a friend who lived on the author's childhood farm in Texas that taught him to swim, feed the cows and work in the garden.

Born in New Orleans, LA and raised in Dallas, TX Sean McLellan attended Northwood University in Texas and graduated with a 3.97/4.00 GPA. In his spare time he loves to play tennis with his son and participate in photography club. He also has a service dog which he visits nursing homes with. McLellan now resides in Bellevue, WA right outside of Seattle where he works for HP. He plans on writing a follow up story to The Red Booted Chicken.
