GAINESVILLE, GA, Oct. 7 /Christian Newswire/ -- This month, Adventures In Missions (AIM), an interdenominational missions organization focusing on discipleship, is celebrating 20 years of ministering to the poor around the world.

Since being established in 1989, AIM has taken over 80,000 people into the mission field, some for as short as a week and others for as long as a year or more. Through 14 bases around the world, AIM has a year-round ministry to places where "the least of these" are found. AIM believes by giving people the opportunity to hold orphans, bring hope to the hopeless, and pray for the sick, lives are transformed.

The 20th Anniversary Celebration kicks off in Gainesville, Georgia, on Saturday, October 10, 2009, with dinner at the AIM headquarters. On Sunday, October 11, 2009, AIM will hold a Family Worship Celebration at Laurel Park.

"We're throwing a big party with lots of delicious food and fun," says founder Seth Barnes. "If AIM has had an impact on your life in any way, you are invited to join the celebration of this momentous occasion."

Started by Barnes in his Florida garage back in 1989, Adventures in Missions has seen the development and growth of over 20 different missions programs and opportunities, including the Edge, the World Race, the Ambassador Program, Real Life, the Novas Project, the Missionary Training Institute in Mexico, as well as a men's and women's ministry. In addition to their Georgia training center and U.S. offices scattered around the country, AIM also has ministry teams based in Peru, Nicaragua, Swaziland and Mexico. AIM also works with hundreds of ministry partners in many countries around the world.

Over the past 20 years, AIM has sent out people into the field to fulfill the Great Commission on six continents. Today, the organization is working tirelessly to help pave the way for change in the world.

"As we look forward to continued growth over the next 20 years, we also look forward to continuing all the valuable relationships which have helped make us who we are," says Barnes. "We would like to express special appreciation to all our amazing partners worldwide, without whose love and support AIM would not be the organization that we are today."
