CHARLOTTETOWN, Prince Edward Island, Jan. 21, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Worldwide Marriage Encounter Canada is looking for the Longest Married Couple in Canada for 2014.

This is the second year the faith-based movement will honor the longest married couple in Canada, says James and Connie McNeill and Fr. John Juhl, the Canadian Leadership Team for Worldwide Marriage Encounter (WWME). Last year Alice and Arthur John of Ross River, Yukon, were celebrated as the longest married couple in Canada, based on nominations received by Worldwide Marriage Encounter Canada.

"The entire community of Ross River celebrated this special honor in May 2013," said Mr. and Mrs. McNeill and Fr. Juhl. "For more than 77 years Mr. and Mrs. John have been living their sacrament as a sign of God's love. They show us all that a strong marriage built on faith and commitment can endure through the good times and the bad."

Nominations for the 2014 Longest Married Couple in Canada are open to husbands and wives regardless of religious affiliation, and may be submitted by a friend, family member or the couple themselves. To nominate a couple, simply submit the names of the husband and wife, their wedding date and current address, as well as contact information for the nominating person. Nominations can be sent by email to longestmarriedcouple@yahoo.ca, by postal mail to Longest Married Couple Canada, #19-15255 36th Ave, Surrey, B.C. V3S 0Y4, or by phoning 604-535-9621. Nominations must be received by April 30, 2014.
