Massachusetts Man to Run 104-Mile Extreme Marathon Across Vietnam for Orphans and Trafficking Victims

Craig Reed, of Westfield, Massachusetts, is running 104.8 miles, the entire width of Vietnam, from a remote mountain on the Laos border to Danang, in August.

LEXINGTON, Ky., Aug. 13, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- 48 year old Craig Reed (photo) will complete Enduring Voices, a 104 mile run across Vietnam, to raise awareness and support for Christian relief ministry Orphan Voice and its humanitarian work in Vietnam. His goal is to raise $50,000 for Orphan Voice programs. To help him achieve that goal, Craig has established several social media channels and a fundraising website.

Orphan Voice has been working in central Vietnam and Southeast Asia for the past seven years. Its founders, Christian attorney Tony and Cindy Brewer (Kentucky), have worked in the field of orphan relief for 22 years and have 5 adopted children. Orphan Voice helps orphans, special needs children, deaf children, children at risk for sex trafficking, and families who experience food insecurity.

Reed, who has twice traveled to Vietnam to volunteer in Orphan Voice programs, will run the 104 miles on August 26-27, 2015. To prepare, he is running 60-70 miles per week, and trying to simulate the hot temperatures he will face in Vietnam. Reed says "The training will not be easy for me, a 48 year old man who's only been running for three years. This will be a serious challenge. But, it pales in comparison to the challenges these children face." His starting point is as high as the Smoky Mountains. Danang is at sea-level.
