KALGOORLIE, Western Australia, May 25, 2018  /Christian Newswire/ -- Evangelist Will Graham returned to Australia, a country in which he has preached regularly over the past decade, to once again declare the Gospel message of hope in Jesus Christ. The Goldfields Celebration with Will Graham was held May 18-20, 2018, at Centennial Park in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia.

"So many people are chasing gold, possessions, and the things of this world. Yet they still aren't happy. That's because they're chasing all the wrong things," said Graham, referencing the area's precious metal mines which employ a significant percentage of the workforce. "There's more to life, and it's found in Jesus Christ."

More than 5,900 people attended the three-day outreach, which included evening services each night as well as a children's event on Saturday morning called KidzCelebration, and a Church Together joint worship service on Sunday morning. Nearly 400 people came forward at the invitation to make a commitment to Jesus throughout the weekend, and more than 150 responded for prayer.

Thousands more watched the event online through a dedicated webcast and Facebook Live.

"It's actually gone beyond my expectations. It's been a wonderful occasion for me to witness," said Pastor Bill Kirkland of Oasis Assemblies of God Australian Christian Church. "I think people have come to the conclusion that we really need Jesus in this town. I think Christians have been built up in their faith and it's encouraged all of us."

A special emphasis was placed on welcoming the aboriginal community to the Goldfields Celebration. The Brownley Gospel Singers, an aboriginal family well-known in the region, performed throughout the weekend. Australian artist Steve Grace, along with the band Skypilot, spent several weeks crisscrossing the Outback to sing and preach to the aboriginal communities of the area before taking the stage at the Celebration.

Other artists at the Goldfields Celebration included award-winning American Christian rock band The Afters, who performed every day of the outreach, and Sean W. Smith, who headlined the Saturday morning KidzCelebration.

Prior to the Goldfields Celebration, Graham preached to more than 10,500 people over three days at the Tri-Cities Region Celebration in Johnson City, Tenn. His next event will be held in Falkirk, Scotland, June 15-17. Later this fall he will hold campaigns in Canada and Thailand.
