RADWAY, Alberta, Canada, Nov. 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- As part of her current Livin’ for Something Tour of the United States, Janelle--one of the top Christian entertainers in Canada--will be featured at an event benefiting the fight against autism, offering these special children a more hopeful perspective as they continue to battle the disease. “Janelle Sings for Autism” is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Elizabethtown Gas Company Atrium in Union, N.J. Janelle will unveil a new song at the event, which is being presented by First Horizon Home Loans. The concert will start at 7 p.m. with a cocktail reception to follow. All proceeds from the event will go to Autism Speaks, a non-profit organization that promotes autism awareness and research.
“Janelle’s music is very inspirational and hopeful,” Jennifer Love, an organizer of the event and a mother of an autistic child, said. “I think this event will be very emotional and uplifting to all those who attend. I know how much it will mean to the autistic community to have someone give us a ‘voice’ for this cause. I always end every speech I give on behalf of Autism Speaks with ‘alone this is a struggle, together I know we can make a difference.’ I believe that together with Janelle, this event and her new song can make a difference.”
A young, energetic, multi-award winning singer, songwriter and spokesperson, Janelle has traveled extensively spreading her “music with a message.” Her alluring voice speaks out to young people and their parents with a clear message of hope, faith and encouragement.
“I really want to aid the families that have to struggle with autism and bring awareness to this cause,” Janelle said. “I think it’s important to make some strides in the research for it because it affects quite a few children. As an artist, God has given me a platform from which to speak from and so I really try to utilize that opportunity to bring awareness for causes I believe in.
“The new song is called ‘You Are My Miracle’ and basically talks about the secret wonders that are held within the heart of an autistic child, and how it’s at the world’s disposal to crack open and discover the beauty inside. Parents, relatives and people who are close to autistic children might get glimpses but the real beauty will only be beheld once we’re all in heaven and we can all see each other for who we are. So, it’s basically a song about human dignity.”
Autism is now considered the fastest-growing developmental disorder in the U.S., according to the National Alliance for Autism Research. There are many benefits to using music with people who are autistic. One of these benefits is that music provides the structural regularity that children with autism need. Within that structure, it is possible to expand children’s repertoire of functioning. Music assists with communication in different ways. For children with severe autism, music is often a means of communication, and their excitement and pleasure of music is clearly visible.
