CAROL STREAM, Ill., Feb. 4, 2015 /Christian Newswire
/ -- Christianity Today
and Leadership Journal
have announced details about their three events on vocation and calling in 2015. The Redeeming Work events will be in Portland
on March 10, Pittsburgh
on May 7, and Los Angeles
This first live event series by the ministry of Christianity Today started in 2014 with gatherings in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Denver. Featured speakers included Playing God
author Andy Crouch, Work Matters
author and pastor Tom Nelson, Kingdom Calling
author Amy Sherman, and many local pastors and leaders that spoke to their city's specific context and needs in the area of faith and work.
The Redeeming Work events
are a result of a nationwide listening tour that uncovered an important fact—millennials are increasingly postponing marriage and look to their work for a sense of identity. At the same time very few millennials felt that the church saw work as an emphasis of the Christian life. Each event lays out a biblical vision for work and speaks directly to what pastors and leaders can do to incorporate faith and work into the life of their church.
The March 10 Portland event registration
has been released with early registration ending February 10. Several speakers have been confirmed, including AJ Sherrill, pastor of Trinity Grace Church in New York City, Kate Harris, Executive Director of The Washington Institute for Faith, Vocation, and Culture, and Dr. Randy Woodley, professor at George Fox Evangelical Seminary.
