WASHINGTON, June 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- Organizations to have prayer vigil in front of the White House in support of Mt. Soledad Cross and religious expression in the public square.

The cross on Mt. Soledad, in San Diego, California has been ordered by a federal judge to be taken down by August 2, 2006 or the city will face $5,000 a day fines.

The cross has stood on Mt. Soledad for 50 years as a memorial to the members of our armed services.

The CAUSE USA, a nationwide youth intercessory prayer movement, will be leading the prayer and worship.  They will be joined by the Christian Defense Coalition.

The prayer vigil will be held on Wednesday, June 14, from 7:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. in front of the White House.  (Lafayette Park Side.)

The group will be praying for God’s direction and also for President Bush to intervene and declare the area the cross is located on a National Memorial.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states, “We are praying for God to give President Bush wisdom and courage to deal with the issue of hostility toward faith in the public square.  The Mt. Soledad cross has stood as a memorial for 50 years to our brave men and women who have served in our armed services.  It has also provided hope, comfort and inspiration to the thousands who have visited the memorial regardless of their faith traditions.  Now is the time for the faith community to seek God and prayerfully stand against judicial activism and religious bigotry.”
