HOUSTON, Texas, December 10, 2025 /Christian Newswire/ — On December 8, President Trump released a message honoring the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, celebrating “Mary’s role in advancing peace, hope, and love in America.” Less than 24 hours later, Instagram suspended Catholic Connect — the largest Catholic organization account in America — erasing 620,000 followers, 11,000 posts, and over a decade of ministry overnight.
This is the second time Instagram has banned Catholic Connect using the identical excuse. In 2021, Catholic News Agency reported the first suspension. Instagram called it “permanent.” After public outcry, they reversed it. The account rebuilt from 273,000 to 620,000 followers. Now Instagram has done it again — same excuse, same result. This time, they also blocked access to the backup account.
Hours before the suspension, Instagram’s own system showed the account in “good standing.” No warnings. No violations. No explanation — just silence.
“This is targeted,” said founder Richy Orozco. “Same excuse twice. Good standing both times. Backup blocked. Someone inside Instagram is doing this deliberately. We want to know who — and we want answers.”
Catholic Connect has been invited to the White House, blessed by Cardinal Raymond Burke, and invited by Cardinal Tagle to address every bishop in the Philippines. Dioceses across America follow the account. Now it’s gone.
Catholic Connect is calling on: Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri to investigate and restore the account; the White House — which honored Catholics 24 hours before this happened — to investigate Big Tech’s treatment of Christian voices; and Catholic leaders including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to demand accountability.
