PLANO, Texas, Feb. 16, 2026 /Christian Newswire/ — The Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts (CSNTM) is thrilled to announce the launch of its new Digital Manuscript Collection online interface—a development years in the making and perhaps the most significant advancement in the organization’s history.
For over two decades, CSNTM’s original database has been a critical resource for New Testament manuscript research. The platform provides unprecedented access to high-resolution digital images of ancient New Testament manuscripts, a tool that has become invaluable to scholars, students, and enthusiasts worldwide. However, as the manuscript archive expanded, so too did the need for a more versatile database.
Why is this Significant?
The original interface was limited to hosting Greek manuscripts with assigned Gregory-Aland numbers, which neglected other vital resources, such as:
• Non-Greek manuscripts, including those in Coptic, Syriac, Arabic, and Latin
• Printed New Testament editions (e.g., Stephanus’ 3rd edition, Wettstein’s 1730 edition)
• Unpublished manuscripts (e.g., Legg’s edition of Luke’s Gospel, MS98 at Lambeth Palace Library)
• Annotations, correspondence, and papers from prominent scholars (e.g., Tischendorf, Geerlings, IGNTP materials)
Recognizing these limitations, CSNTM set out to design a new database from the ground up. Drawing on two decades of experience and collaboration with leading scholars, the result is a cutting-edge platform that will bring together into a single searchable repository a wide array of resources New Testament scholars need.
Introducing the New Digital Manuscript Collection Interface
Built by scholars for scholarship, the new interface marks a momentous advancement for CSNTM and the field of New Testament studies. Scholars will now have access to a growing repository of original source material in multiple ancient languages, including ancient manuscripts of the New Testament and other early Christian documents.
