KANSAS CITY, Missouri, Mar. 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- Some people observe Lent--the time between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday--by giving up something as a sign of their solemn preparation for Easter. While we may not all be celebrating Lent in this way, New Church Specialties' founder Dr. Larry McKain says there IS something we need to give up before Easter--and it's something far bigger than chocolate bars or hamburgers. It's our bitterness towards the church.

Many Christians, after being hurt by the church, have indulged in the habit of harboring anger and resentment for years. They may have even left the church behind to go it alone in their Christian walk. This habit is unhealthy and should be given up!

NCS is committed to helping believers recapture the love and passion for the church that Christ has and that ultimately led him to the cross—the very cross we celebrate this Good Friday.

As part of the "LOVE THE CHURCH!" campaign, NCS invites Christians to go to www.lovethechurch.net and sign up for the free weekly Love The Church! electronic devotional newsletter that encourages all believers in the joyful task of loving the church and one another. This e-devotional offers insights from Scripture to help Christians understand why we're called to love the church as Christ loved her. It offers helpful advice, practical activities, and sound counsel on building a relationship with the church that will last a lifetime. In less than three months, the e-newsletter has amassed more than 5,000 subscribers.

In addition, NCS has enlisted global prayer support for those who want to give up their bitterness toward the church. At www.lovethechurch.net, Christians can privately share their stories with NCS and ask for prayer. Dr. McKain will take these requests as he leaves for an extended trip to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, and other countries where the church is growing quickly despite persecution. Christians in these countries will then pray consistently and earnestly for the people who share their story with NCS.
