SACRAMENTO, Sept. 30 /Christian Newswire/ -- Among the more than 200 bills still on the desk of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger are ones creating an official 'gay day' in public schools, opening a backdoor to assisted suicide, and forcing persons of conscience to abandon their moral values. Schwarzenegger has a constitutional deadline of midnight tonight to sign or veto this year's bills.

"Governor Schwarzenegger, the people who elected you are expecting vetoes of these bills attacking moral values and matters of conscience," said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), a leading West Coast family issues leadership organization. "Children don't need and parents don't want a 'gay day' in schools. Politicians shouldn't be able to create assisted suicide. And Californians should be able to hold onto their moral values about sexuality without fear of punishment."

Campaign for Children and Families' website SaveCalifornia.com has been directing pro-family Californians to call and email the Governor to urge that he veto:

AB 2567: "Gay Day" at public schools, affecting children as young as kindergarten. AB 2567 honors homosexual activist Harvey Milk, calling on all California public schools to lead children in performing "suitable commemorative exercises" promoting what Milk believed in, which was the entire homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual agenda, including anti-religious values. There is no definition or limit to the "exercises" the bill would make students do every May 22, which AB 2567 dubs "Harvey Milk Day."

AB 2747: Doctor- and nurse-assisted suicide via total sedation, causing death by dehydration within five to 10 days. AB 2747 is a backdoor to assisted suicide and is the thrice-defeated assisted suicide bill in another form. AB 2747 is sponsored by Compassion & Choices, the new name for the pro-euthanasia Hemlock Society, which avidly supported Dr. Jack Kevorkian's notorious "suicide machine.”
