SAN FRANCISCO, July 2, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Last March, Brazil's Higher Court of Justice ruled that adults having sex with children was not necessarily a crime. Since 2009, the age of consent in the country (Brazil) has been 14." Palosh Ghosh -- International Business Times

"With the World Cup on the way, Brazilian authorities are concerned about a boom in child prostitution, particularly in host cities in the sun-kissed but often poor north-east such as Recife and Fortaleza." Tom Phillips -- The Guardian, UK

A San Francisco Bay Area Film Crew to Document the Harsh Realities of Child Prostitution & Sex Trafficking in Fortaleza, Brazil in Fall of 2013.

Photographer, David Peters and Matthew McFetridge, SF field producer will take on the dangerous task of filming a documentary of 3 young girls trapped in the world of prostitution and sex trafficking in slums of Fortaleza, Brazil. The filming will also cover a remarkable 23 year old California girl, Lauren Lierly, who is currently putting her life on the line by saving these girls and young children from this brutal abuse and having them escape to a safe haven.

The purpose of this documentary is to bring awareness of this dire situation and help Lauren create a new safe place for these children.

"We decided to make this important film, "From Heartbreak to Heaven" when I personally met Lauren in California, on a break from Brazil last summer. I was struck by her enduring passion to save these girls from their abusive situation. In Brazil, it's been documented that there are over 1/2 million child prostitutes but some estimates go as high as 2 million. There has been speculation that these numbers will triple with the presence of 2014 World Cup," says David Peters.

"We want to get the word out that these girls need our help by broadcasting this documentary once its done" says Peters.

Indiegogo.com, a crowd-funding portal is collecting donations to make this film a reality. It has raised over $12,000 already -- but its $8,000 short of its goal with only 10 days left to go.

Please watch the "From Heartbreak to Heaven."
