Athanatos Ministries Releases Next Great American Novel, Penned by Texan Rancher
Contact: Anthony Horvath, Athanatos Christian Ministries, 202-697-4623, director@athanatosministries.org

AMARILLO, Texas, Nov. 17, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- If it seems like the world is on fire today, it can sometimes help to remember that it has been on fire before.

In award winning author Sam D. Pakan's book, "Jesse's Seed," an air force pilot is shot down over Germany in World War Two. Hid by the resistance but eventually captured by the enemy, the pilot comes to realize that there is no conflict more intense than the one fought in a single human heart. Namely, his own.

Pakan is the winner of Athanatos Christian Ministry's 2015 Christian Novel Contest. A publishing agreement between ACM and Pakan was quickly reached. The book is officially available on Friday, November 20th, 2015.

Dr. Anthony Horvath, the Executive Director of ACM, said, "What I like about Sam's book is that it doesn't sugarcoat real life. The defeats continue to inflict pain even after many years, and the victories are often incomplete. Just because you are a 'good' person, it doesn't mean everything ends nicely wrapped in a bow. In 'Jesse's Seed,' we see a man's struggle against the things that enslave him. Freedom comes through unexpected avenues, just as in real life."

Pakan is a Texas rancher who knows something about making a living off of the land. It probably isn't a surprise that "Jesse's Seed" begins on a farm. The main character, David, labors under the disapproving gaze of his father, Jesse. All the things that David wants always seem to be just out of reach. As the story goes on, one begins to wonder if part of the problem is that David wants the wrong things.

"That," says Horvath, "may be a problem that we all have. Not just David."

Horvath says that ACM has always gravitated towards books that reflect what they call 'literary apologetics.'

He says, "Our goal is to communicate foundational truths through the arts. In 'Jesse's Seed' Sam has definitely put the 'literary' in 'apologetics' and ACM is honored to introduce his book to the world."
