ATLANTA, Jan. 24, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Maximus Group, a global marketing communications firm serving the Catholic Church and community, has named Victor Pap Vice President of Marketing and Outreach. Pap joined the staff on Jan. 23.

"The addition of Victor Pap to The Maximus Group will enhance our agency's ability to provide the highest level of grass roots outreach and direct marketing support for initiatives and projects important to Catholics while increasing the global presence of the work of Maximus and its clients through the development of local community relations networks and on-site marketing programs," said Lisa Wheeler, Vice President and General Manager. "We are excited to have Victor join us as we continue our mission-driven work for the New Evangelization."

In his new role, Pap will lead the company's efforts in community relations and outreach to bridge the sacred and the secular on a variety of projects across multimedia platforms. He also will lead efforts to expand outreach into new areas, including the ever-expanding Hispanic-Catholic population in the U.S. Pap is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.

"I'm thrilled about the opportunity to help positively impact so many Catholic audiences worldwide," Pap said. "The potential to facilitate communications for Catholic constituencies is so important for success in the 21st Century, and Maximus is really at the forefront of this strategy."

Pap is a lifelong Catholic who grew up in Massachusetts, the son of Brazilian and Hungarian immigrants. He graduated from Suffolk University in Boston with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Journalism. As an undergraduate, Pap earned New England championships in speech and debate.

Pap worked as press secretary and as a legislative aide to a number of Massachusetts state representatives. He also held elective office himself, serving three consecutive terms on the city council in his hometown of Weymouth, Mass.

In 2007, Pap became executive director of the Boston-based Catholic Citizenship, a nonprofit founded by Ray Flynn, former U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See, who also served as mayor of Boston. Its mission is to educate, advocate and mobilize lay Catholics on behalf of the Church in the public square.

Most recently, Pap served as Director of Marketing and Development for the Coalition for Marriage & Family, an ecumenical education and advocacy organization working for government accountability in the North East.

Pap and his wife Mary have three children with one on the way.
