Independent Conservative Candidate Runs for Missouri's 7th District Seat
Contact: Sheryl DeShon, Committee to elect Dean Moore, 417-350-7140

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Aug 3 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dean Moore, former youth pastor, and businessman began his campaign to run for Missouri's 7th district congressional seat, gathering signatures at the Ozark Empire Fair Today through Aug 9th. Mr. Moore enters a crowded field of candidates, as the only Independent. Mr. Moore builds his campaign around the idea of much smaller federal government, and restored states rights, as well as a return to traditional constitutional government.

Dean Moore former Youth Pastor and successful businessman kicked off his Independent campaign to replace Roy Blunt as Southern Missouri's representative in the House of Representatives. Rep. Blunt has announced his run for a Senate seat leaving his seat up for grabs. Mr. Moore is gathering signatures to gain ballot access, and is meeting potential voters in the district. His no-nonsense approach to federal issues is striking a chord with voters disenchanted with party politics as usual. A recent tongue-in-cheek quote has attracted attention locally.

"I would hope that a wise Hillbilly Redneck with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a bunch of unelected lawyers and lobbyists."

Mr. Moore wants to work to greatly pare down the size and scope of the federal government, turning most programs back to the states. He believes in limiting federal taxes to less than 10%, and encouraging personal freedoms over cradle-to-grave government programs. Quoting Margaret Thatcher "Being democratic is not enough, for a majority cannot turn what is wrong into right. In order to be considered truly free, countries must also have a deep love of liberty and an abiding respect for the rule of law." He has said that he blames many moral problems facing the country today on the government intruding into areas traditionally handled by the local church and civic groups. He is pro-life, supports legal immigration, a stewardship approach to the environment and local control of education, with national suggested guidelines. He would work to replace the current tax system with the fair tax, and opposes federal "healthcare" in favor of individual responsibility and free-market pricing of medical services. He thinks every member of congress should read and live by the bills they push on the citizens of the U.S. He vows, if elected not to move to D.C. but instead to rent an extended stay motel room, and to return to the Ozarks each weekend.
