COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., May 22, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- In keeping with HCJB Global's tradition of offering cutting-edge internships in a variety of exciting disciplines, this summer the organization is offering 40 young adults from around the world hands-on opportunities in media, medicine, engineering and community development in England, Ghana, Ecuador, sub-Saharan Africa and the United States.

The cross-cultural, missions-based internships for ages 18-26 are part of the ministry's commitment to teaching and equipping Christians worldwide with skills in health care, emerging media and engineering.

The number of internships this year is almost double that which was offered in 2011. While this summer's slate of internships is set, candidates for 2013 should already consider applying.

"These internships are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for college-age adults to discover that the technical skills they have been acquiring can be used in the expansion of God's Kingdom," said Ellie Brecunier, HCJB Global's international new media coordinator. "Not only will they be further trained in their fields, but they also will be part of a multiethnic, global and cutting-edge experience designed to empower and mobilize a new generation of Christian leaders."

HCJB Global has recruited seven "Spirit of the Games" interns to assist Planet Sport, a digital media ministry serving at the Olympic Games this summer in London. The interns will develop skills in video, social media and storytelling in a dynamic, partnership-driven environment, working alongside people from around the world as they share Christ's love through the themes and values inspired by the games. Two of the interns are fluent in Spanish and will be providing stories and content for people in Latin America.

Five "Eternal Impact" interns will study at HCJB Global's ministry partner Radio Worldwide facilities in Leeds, England, learning spiritual development and the practical application of radio ministry from professionals in the field.

Mentored by missionaries at HCJB Global's Technology Center in Elkhart, Ind., 10 interns will work on projects in fields as diverse as digital radio technology, development of power protection monitors, video documentation of ministries in Ecuador and audio projects aimed at direct evangelism.

"Engage" Latin America summer interns will work in the mission's hospital, clean-water projects in rural areas or translation of resource materials into Spanish in Ecuador, while "Akomo Ntoso" ("Linked Hearts") interns will take part in mobile medical outreach clinics in remote villages and orphanages with partner ministry Theovision in the West African country of Ghana.
