Steve Amerson to Sing at the Congressional Medal of Honor Society's Convention

DENVER, Sept. 11 /Christian Newswire/ -- Steve Amerson, well-known Inspirational music artist will be singing at the Congressional Medal of Honor Society's Annual Convention, A Celebration of Honor, in Denver, Colorado at the "Patriots Award Gala" on Friday, September 19, 2008.

More than half of the nation's 101 living Medal of Honor recipients will be in attendance. The esteemed honorees come from nearly every state, representing all races, social classes, and educational and economic strata. They are emblematic of America's ideals of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism.

The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration given by the United States. It is awarded by Congress and usually presented by the President in a White House ceremony. The Medal of Honor is awarded to a person who, while a member of the Armed Services, distinguishes himself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty.

Steve Amerson will be singing "Blades of Grass and Pure White Stones," a moving tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This song was composed by Senator Orrin Hatch, Lowell Alexander and Phil Naish. Steve will also sing the National Anthem and "God Bless America."

The Society will present the "Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment" to Academy Award wining actor and director Clint Eastwood. Ben Stein, author, lecturer and economist will receive the "John McCrary Excellence in Journalism Award".

The Society will also present the "Distinguished Citizenship Award," to the late Bill Daniels, humanitarian and cable television entrepreneur. Daniels had a very personal concern for and involvement with individuals in need, and the organizations that serve them. As a naval fighter pilot in World War II, Daniels was awarded the Bronze Star. He also served during the Korean Conflict.
