Capital Hill: Get Ready to 'Hear' the Silent Majority

Contact: Briana Thomas, 770-904-0007

ATLANTA, Jan. 24, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Lawmakers are often influenced and driven by large outcries from their constituents, demanding change. Now, one of the nation's newer evangelical faces, Damon Davis, plans on commanding the front line of the ongoing battle with Congress for religious freedoms.  His army will be made up of volunteer forces from the silent majority, and an activist Washington attorney, Jay Sekulow, who serves as Chief Counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ).

Citing what Davis calls an epidemic erosion of traditional values and religious freedoms, his nemeses are the "liberal media and a growing cast of immoral lawmakers," he says. In fact, one recent incident in the media drove Davis' passion to lead the charge.  "When NBC removed the words 'under God' from a broadcast of the Pledge of Allegiance during the 2011 U.S. Open golf tournament, that was my 'moment' to be pro-active, rather than re-active, and call in the troops," he says.

Damon Davis is CEO of the Atlanta-based Legacy Worldwide media buying and advertising agency, which produces a significant number of Christian television programs reaching millions within the silent majority. Now, Davis intends to gather one million - or more - signatures to take to Washington D.C. "...to prove to our nation's leaders Americans still believe 'In God We Trust'. But in addition to gathering signatures to send his message to Congress, Davis' ambitious project includes providing special edition Bibles to every elected and appointed official within the nation's capitol.  The American Legacy Bible details America's unique spiritual heritage and challenges those who Davis believes "...have allowed the original intentions of our country's founding fathers, namely decent morals and religious freedoms, to be ripped away."

These special-edition Bibles will also be made available to every principal, teacher and student in America's school system. Not content on stopping there, Davis is also working on a campaign to provide a special American Legacy Bible, printed with a camouflage cover, to every man and woman in this country's Armed Forces.

And the crown jewel to Davis' widespread project is to leverage his years of television and media experience to produce a television special, "This American Legacy," which will air soon in select broadcast markets nationwide.
