ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa, June 19, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- With the help of Ignitia online curriculum, a small Christian school and its online program for grades 7-12 are thriving in Northern Minnesota.

Nestled in the heart of the Iron Range in Hibbing, Minnesota, Victory Christian Academy was originally established in 1983 and expanded in 2010 to open its doors to secondary students. The non-denominational school now enrolls students from preschool through 12th grade.

Kristyn Sinnott, lead secondary teacher at VCA, identifies increased SAT scores as one of the main benefits the school has experienced since transitioning their secondary program to Alpha Omega Publications' Ignitia online curriculum in 2012.

She notes that high SAT scores have remained high, while lower scores have increased across the board. In a few particularly impressive cases, students who were testing below their grade level have improved as much as two grade levels in certain subjects.

"I know I don't have any regrets going with Ignitia," Sinnott said. "It's a transition, I think, for traditional teachers who aren't as used to using technology. Otherwise, I thought the whole transition to the program was easy. It was flexible, and it's a solid curriculum."

Headquartered in Rock Rapids, Iowa, Alpha Omega Publications has been providing Christian curriculum to schools around the world since 1977. The company specializes in online learning with products like Ignitia, which includes over 150 engaging courses that can be easily customized to fit individual student needs.

"We absolutely love the versatility of it," Sinnott said. "It's the videos, it's the games, [and] it's the interactivity of the curriculum that we really, truly love."

Other perks of online learning include anytime access to schoolwork, which makes it easy for students to keep up while on vacation or out sick. In addition, Ignitia's built-in calendar and progress reports keep students informed on their due dates and growth, eliminating excuses for incomplete work.

This fall, 89 students in grades K-12 are registered to take classes at Victory Christian Academy, 17 of which are secondary students. For more information about Ignitia, visit aopschools.com.
