WASHINGTON, Aug. 10, 2015 /
Christian Newswire/ -- On August 14, 2013, Egyptian security forces used excessive military force in raids that decimated nearly 1,000 protestors at al-Nahda Square and Rabaa al-Adawiya Square in Cairo. These acts of violence became the internationally recognized start to a repressive crackdown on human rights and civil liberties in Egypt under Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
In addition to those killed in the raids, several thousand more were injured. Human Rights Watch called the raid "one of the world's largest killings of demonstrators in a single day in recent history."
In anticipation of the two-year anniversary of the Rabaa Massacre, we invite you to join us for an interfaith prayer service to honor the memories of the victims of the massacre.
