Close the Back Door

SAN DIEGO, Calif., July 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- The first Coast2Coast Sticky Church Conference, presented by Zondervan and Leadership Network, will be held in San Diego, October 6 & 7, 2008. Featuring Pastors Wayne Cordeiro (New Hope Christian Fellowship, Honolulu, Hawaii), Dave Ferguson (Community Christian Church, Naperville, Ill.) and Larry Osborne (North Coast Church, Vista, Calif.), the conference will include teams of presenters from each church sharing their proven approaches for member and visitor retention. Highly interactive and practical, the Sticky Church Conference will enable church leaders to develop their own strategies to make their churches stickier--in other words, to "close the back door."

"Much has been said in the past several years about attraction, church marketing and seeker-sensitivity," said Chris Mavity, director of the Coast2Coast Training Network, a ministry of North Coast Church. "These principles are all valuable, but without closing the back door there is little chance of church growth or significant long- term ministry impact."

Osborne will release a book, Sticky Church (Zondervan), in September that focuses on North Coast's "sticky" principle, sermon-based small groups, which involve more than 80% of their adult attendees. However, the Sticky Church Conference is not about platforming only one method or church, but proven best-practices from several churches, in order to help participants craft strategies that are the best fit for their own ministry context.

"The Sticky Church Conference is deep, not wide," said Mavity. "We will focus on one aspect of ministry a number of different ways, then we will process the ideas as church teams, participants and presenters together."

The two-day event will be held on the campus of North Coast Church in the north San Diego County city of Vista. Discounts are available for early registration and groups.
