Hopegivers International Unveils New Orphanage in Haiti

HAITI, Feb. 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Georgia-based humanitarian organization Hopegivers International recently completed construction on a new "Hope Home" orphanage in Haiti. Hopegivers built the new orphanage not only to provide 31 current orphans with better living conditions, but also to provide the potential to house 100 or more orphans.

The opening of the new Hope Home came in response to the crowded conditions of the previous orphanage, which reflects the overwhelming number of starving, sick, and suffering children in Haiti.

"Many people don't know that Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere and that the most basic of life's necessities cannot be counted on," said Dr. M.A. Thomas, founder of Hopegivers. "These kids are so happy to be in their new home--and now we have room to rescue even more children in need."

The old orphanage housed as many as 35 people in a 24 x 27 foot building. Hopegivers' new facilities have the capabilities to comfortably house 100 children. At the new orphanage, Hopegivers will provide the children with food, clean water, medicine, clothing, and other necessities. Hopegivers will also provide these children with a Christian education at a local school also supported by Hopegivers.

"After seeing photos of the new Hope Home, I am so grateful for the prayers and generous support of the many friends of Hopegivers," said Dr. Samuel Thomas, president of Hopegivers. "An alarming number of orphaned children are dying in Haiti--from AIDS; from contaminated water supplies; from starvation; and even at the hands of those who would prey upon the innocent. We want to give these children a chance at a better life."

In Haiti – as well as India and Malawi – Hopegivers seeks to help orphaned and abandoned children by providing for their every need: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The hope is that the children will grow into healthy, productive, godly adults who effect positive change in their community.
