Catholic Advocate: 'Self-Evident Truths Don't Change with the Wind'

Contact: Matt Smith, Catholic Advocate, 202-521-9828

WASHINGTON, Jan. 17, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Catholic Advocate, an organization that engages and encourages faithful Catholics to actively participate in the political process, today released the web video "Self-Evident Truths."

"Come November, the Republican party nominee must be more than an alternative to President Obama," said Catholic Advocate President Matt Smith. "As we say in this video, they must be a trusted conservative leader who has never wavered on the core issues most important to people of faith."

The video opens with the image of John Trumbull's "Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776" where the Founding Fathers presented their draft of the Declaration to the Second Continental Congress that included our "Self-Evident Truths."

"We believe Catholics want to hear about a candidate's commitment to life, marriage, and fiscal responsibility but will respond positively when those things are linked with concern about those who are disadvantaged, suffering, and vulnerable with a plan to help them," added Catholic Advocate Chairman Deal Hudson. "We worked to capture that in this video as more people are starting to pay attention to this year's elections."

The text of the video follows:

ANNCR: "Our Founding Fathers knew what it meant to stand for self-evident truths, for life and liberty.

"Come November, the Republican party nominee must be more than an alternative to President Obama.

"They must be a trusted, conservative leader who has never wavered on the core issues most important to people of faith.

"Pro-Life, Pro-Family, and trusted when it comes to making key appointments. Someone who will fight poverty by creating jobs, protect religious liberty, and believes in putting national security first in foreign policy.

"Because in times like these, even self-evident truths need to be defended. Join us at Catholic Advocate. Help defend your values."
