SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 5, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- National Founder of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, Dr. Timothy F. Johnson, died on Friday, January 31, 2015, at his home in Omaha, NE.

Dr. Johnson founded the Frederick Douglass Foundation, along with Dean Nelson and Troy Rolling, in 2008. The organization grew to hold chapters in 20 states with thousands of members. The Frederick Douglass Foundation, like the man it was named after, was built upon the ideals of faith in God, limited government, a free market and a free society.

Walter Hoye, Founder of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of California had this to say. "My thoughts and prayers are with Tim's family at this time. Tim encouraged my heart and made me a stronger leader."

Kevin McGary, President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of California shared from his heart when he said . . .

"Timothy F. Johnson was a warrior and great friend and will be sorely missed. We will greatly miss his leadership, his strident commitment to real justice, his defense of righteous values and traditions, and his unwavering commitment to Godliness. Because he was a mighty man of God, we know he is in a much better state, and in a much better place. While we applaud his triumph and transition as a warrior, we also grieve with his family; his untimely departure means there will be times of great sorrow and loss, and we will indeed miss him. In all, the Frederick Douglass Foundation of California is grateful to have known and served with him. In acknowledgment of Tim's memory and legacy, we redouble our commitment to standing for righteousness, justice, and Godliness. To him we say, 'well done' and affirm 'to God be the Glory!'"

The National Headquarters of the Frederick Douglass Foundation released an official statement on the matter Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015.

A fund has been established by the family for those wishing to make contributions in his honor.

The Frederick Douglass Foundation of California extends its deepest sympathies to the Johnson family and the many friends and supporters Dr. Johnson made throughout his brief but meaningful career.
