TORONTO, April 21, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- Francesco Productions is pleased to announce that SENT, a documentary on Fr. Stan Fortuna, C.F.R., a jazz-hip hop Catholic priest and Franciscan Friar of the Renewal, was released this week on DVD. Directed by Kim Yu, the film showcases how he mixes his music with the Gospel message and how his supporters and critics view the results.

"I'm happy that SENT is finally finished. I actually started filming almost a decade ago so it has been quite the journey," says writer/director Yu. "Fr. Stan has been an interesting subject and priest who really wants to make a positive difference. He's very genuine and seems to put people at ease no matter their religious beliefs which is already a great start."

SENT takes the viewer on the road with Fr. Stan as he travels throughout the U.S., Canada, Switzerland and Africa as well as offers glimpses into his life and often difficult work in the South Bronx where he resides. It contains excerpts from both his religious and jazz concerts in addition to talks, interviews with his CFR brothers, his fellow musicians, his colleagues, his supporters, his fans and his detractors.

Yu was able to interview Fr. Stan at different points in his life to discuss his calling, his music and his mission. From his original disinterest in becoming a priest to his improvisational jazz studies, SENT highlights the unique circumstances that led him to becoming a founding member of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and how he became known internationally for his hip hop and preaching. There is footage from various daily activities within the community and from personal events such as a local funeral and the funeral of Fr. Stan's mother which highlight how he uses his enduring faith to help others face their own challenges and hardships.

"Over the years, to meet the myriad people he has encountered around the world and to see how he uses his passion for music and for his faith to try to make a sincere connection - even to this day - has been pretty amazing," says Yu.

SENT is available for $20 USD plus shipping and handling on the Francesco Productions' website – www.francescoproductions.com – or by calling (718) 401-1589.
