Free Movie Night in Brampton Every Month

Contact: Laura Faber, Sonoma Church, 905-291-0830

BRAMPTON, Ontario, Oct. 31, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Sonoma Church in Brampton hosts a free family movie night once per month for the community. Everyone is welcome. A movie is shown on a big screen, including free soda and free fresh popcorn.

Sonoma Church covers all of the costs. Movie night is always the 4th Friday of the month at 7pm and movies range from G to PG13 depending on the theme. There are activities for small children and sometimes face painting and prizes.

On other Friday nights, the church holds regular services, including lively music and relevant messages. The church applies biblical teaching to current events such as the life of Amanda Todd, the shooting of Trayvon Martin, and the massacre at Sandy Hook. The result of this has been positive, with over 30 teens this year making a commitment to give up sexting, drugs, alcohol and committing to better relationships with their school and family. Parents have been raving about the youth program, however there have been "complaints," at least 1 parent has reported concern that their teenager seems to be "talking about Jesus, church and the bible" way to much.

The church is new and very small. Teens can earn their volunteer hours and the church offers college scholarships.

Brampton is a city of approximately 500,000 people, and is one of Canada's fastest growing cities. There are dozens of churches in the area of all denominations and Sonoma Church has been partnering with them to reach the city for Jesus.
