ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Jan. 4, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Crossway, a publishing ministry based in Wheaton, Illinois, has partnered with Faith Comes By Hearing to provide the Word of God to our military men and women stationed around the world. The gospel-centered publishing company, which in addition to various Christian authors also publishes the English Standard Version (ESV) Bible, has generously donated 50,000 ESV New Testaments to Faith Comes By Hearing's Military BibleStick Project.

The New Testaments also include the books of Psalms and Proverbs. The pocket-sized publication, with a very military olive green cover, is packaged with Faith Comes By Hearing's Military BibleStick and shipped, free of charge, to chaplains who place a request for these ministry tools.

The entire package is a resource chaplains can use when counseling or providing comfort to our troops deployed overseas or awaiting deployment here at home.

By combining Crossway's gift and the Audio Scripture provided on the Military BibleStick, the brave men and women in our armed forces now have two ways to engage God's Word for answers and assurance while they defend our country during this time of war.

"Crossway has consistently shown a heart for providing the pure Word of God to the world," stated Jerry Jackson, Faith Comes By Hearing's founder and president. "We are proud to stand with Crossway in supporting our troops."

Faith Comes By Hearing has distributed more than 81,000 Military BibleSticks since the project started in 2008. Since October of this year, shipments have included the ESV Bibles from Crossway.

"It is a special delight for Crossway to partner with Faith Comes By Hearing to provide the greatest gift we can give anyone -- God's Word," said Dr. Lane Dennis, president and publisher of Crossway. "It is our prayer that the Lord will use this gift to bring many in our armed services to know Christ as their Savior, even as they defend the freedom of the Gospel and our nation."

The ESV Bible is essentially a literal translation in contemporary English, with an emphasis on word-for-word accuracy, literary excellence, and depth of meaning. First published in 2001, Crossway makes the ESV available in 150 print editions and provides free access online throughout the world.

Both the ESV text and word-for-word Scripture in a dramatized audio format are available for free at www.Bible.is -- a site established by Faith Comes By Hearing as a part of their Digital Bible Project.
