RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 28, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Faith Driven Consumer -- the group behind the recent IStandWithPhil.com movement which played a leading role in Phil Robertson's return to Duck Dynasty -- is tracking the commercial viability of major Hollywood films courting faith audiences this year. During 2014, the Year of the Bible Movie, studios are targeting 46 million Faith Driven Consumers who spend $1.75 trillion annually. Over the past few weeks, through a highly publicized survey of the Faith Driven Consumer community and the subsequent publication of an Open Letter to Hollywood, Faith Driven Consumer has been heavily engaged in the national conversation on Paramount's upcoming film Noah starring Russell Crowe.

Yesterday, Paramount and the National Religious Broadcasters released a joint statement informing the public of their decision to "add an explanatory message to future marketing materials for the upcoming film Noah." Faith Driven Consumer Founder and Certified Brand Strategist Chris Stone has issued the following response:

"We thank Paramount for its decision to issue an explanatory message on Noah. Information made available to Faith Driven Consumer gives us a sense that Paramount is taking steps to respect, connect with and reach out to the core faith audience of this film. While many Faith Driven Consumers will likely find valid reason to pause on some elements of the film, we are becoming more hopeful that many other areas will resonate and be compatible with the Bible's core message. We are looking forward to reviewing and further evaluating the film and sharing that information with our community using our Faith-friendly Film Review rating system," said Chris Stone, Certified Brand Strategist and Founder of Faith Driven Consumer. "The Faith Driven Consumer community is eager for entertainment choices that resonate with them, and we will continue to encourage Hollywood as it works to provide those options."

As a result of yesterday's decision, Paramount has added the following message to its Noah website: The film is inspired by the story of Noah. While artistic license has been taken, we believe this story is true to the essence, values, and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone of faith for millions of people worldwide. The Biblical story of Noah can be found in the Book of Genesis.

Faith Driven Consumer's Faith-friendly Film Reviews are based on five core criteria:

  1. Overall Faith and/or Biblical Relevance

  2. Faith-compatible Depiction of Characters and Character Relationships

  3. Faith-compatible Depiction of Situations

  4. Family Viewing Suitability

  5. Entertainment Value

Faith Driven Consumer will review a host of films this year to measure their faith compatibility and determine the level of resonance and entertainment value to a consumer community of 46 million people who spend $1.75 trillion annually.
