MEDIA ADVISORY, Feb. 17 /Christian Newswire/ -- What is said to be 'one of the largest prayer meetings in Canadian history', TheCRY, is set to take place in the City of St John's on Saturday February 21st and GOD TV will be there to beam the all-day event around the world, enabling Christians in many different countries to participate.

An inter-denominational initiative emphasizing prayer, worship and fasting for the spiritual welfare of Canada, TheCRY has already held rallies in Edmonton, Ottawa, Iqaluit and Toronto with a total on site turnout of over 10,000 and a capacity crowd is expected to attend the St John's rally, positioning it as what could be one of the largest prayer meetings in Canadian history.

In addition, GOD TV's global viewership will be able to access the LIVE broadcast including viewers from all across the USA on DIRECTV, which reaches some 16 million homes. LIVE coverage of the gathering commences at 8.30am (EST) and will run for 12 hours in a marathon broadcast featuring fervent prayers, heart-felt worship and challenging messages.  As TheCRY is a nameless, faceless movement featured guests/artists are not promoted.

Canada and the world are at a pivotal point in history and TheCRY aims to mobilize believers to intercede for the current political and economic upheaval as well as for unity and revival in the Church. Family and life issues, sexual morality, and a return to ethical behavior in government will also be addressed in prayer

"With the political, economic and global shakings that have been happening, we know that this is God's divine timing," said a spokesperson for TheCRY. "St John's is not only the historical foundation point for Canada, but for all of North America (the first settlement) and we believe this is a city marked for such a time as this. Named after John the Baptist, St John's will release a cry to God saying, 'Prepare the way for the Lord' and this cry will be heard all across the globe as Canada leads the world in prayer through GOD TV."

GOD TV encourages believers everywhere to stand with the nation of Canada at this time and use this as an opportunity for heightened prayer in their own lives. "I believe with all my heart that TheCRY will bring a truly profound shaking in the spirit realm across Canada and in the lives of everyone watching," said GOD TV co-founder and director of television, Wendy Alec. "What the world needs now is a sobriety of spirit and fervent prayer. It's time for the Church to wake up and discern the times and call on God's mercy so please be sure to join in TheCRY."

GOD TV can be watched via satellite on channel 365 of DIRECTV or via webstreaming at www.god.tv/stream. GOD TV's 12-hour marathon broadcast of TheCRY will also be made available for video on demand viewing at www.god.tv/god.
