ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 21, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist and Disciple of Christ - Education in Virtue™ are pleased to introduce the Life of Christ Lectio Divina Journal authored by one of the foundresses of the community; Sr. John Dominic, OP. This journal was written to help cultivate an encounter with the Person of Jesus Christ. The beautiful artwork and gorgeous selection of scripture passages fosters contemplative personal retreat-like experiences, by slowly moving through His life, meditating upon His word using lectio divina. This encounter with Truth, Beauty, and Goodness, naturally draws to a life of virtue as an interior habit.

Offering his imprimatur, the Most Reverend Earl Boyea, Bishop of Lansing had this to say about Life of Christ: "More than a textbook, it introduces young people to a prayerful reading and understanding of the life of Jesus as recorded in the gospels. It provides them an opportunity to know Jesus in a personal way, to listen to His voice as they reflect and pray and to respond to His invitation to follow Him through resolutions and the practice of the virtues….I pray that this work will achieve wide circulation and lead many young people to a personal encounter with Jesus and the fullness of life He offers us." (excerpt taken from Foreward)

The Life of Christ Lectio Divina Journal has already been endorsed by notable Catholic writer/speakers including Jeff Cavins, Creator of the Great Adventure Bible Study; Our Sunday Visitor's Jem Sullivan; Mark Hart of Life Teen International; Chris Stefanick, of Real Life Catholic and Dr. Mary Healy. It has also been featured on the reputable CatholicMom blog and website.

'Life of Christ' belongs to a larger virtue program called The Disciple of Christ - Education in Virtue, a resource borne out of the Sisters' vast background in the education and formation of Christian life of virtue. Education in Virtue, which is being used in Catholic schools around the country as well as homeschooling communities, has been created to assist parents and educators in understanding the importance of living a Christian life of virtue.  All of the materials, including the 'Life of Christ' have been developed to be practical and intuitive, having been designed and tested by educators in the classroom.

About the Dominican Sisters of Mary:
The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist were canonically established in 1997 and have taken their messages of faith to the modern world through education, television, music and books.  Their community has continued to grow and expand. With over 120 sisters now (double their size 10 years ago), their motherhouse in Ann Arbor is overflowing. They are currently building a new priory in the Diocese of Austin, Texas. A teaching order, the community now serves in seven states, including seven dioceses and three archdioceses as well as two universities. They've opened new missions in San Francisco, Chicago, Peoria, Lansing and St. Clair Shores, and have their first international mission in Rome. Their summer missions have grown and they've added another TV initiative with EWTN.  Several of the nuns have been guests on The Oprah Winfrey Show multiple times including a recent 2015 appearance, and made it to the finals of the Game Show Network's highly-rated The American Bible Challenge.  The Sisters released international chart-topping albums, Mater Eucharistiae  and The Rosary-Mysteries, Mediations & Music. Their instant music success led to features on CBS This Morning, NPR's All Things Considered, FOX & Friends, among many others. In keeping with their Dominican Spirit of spreading the witness of religious life they have planned a 2016 pilgrimage to France and Italy in honor of two coinciding Jubilees: The 800 Year Anniversary of the Dominican Order and the Extraordinary Year of Mercy.
