STATEN ISLAND, Ny., April 17 /Christian Newswire/ -- Leaders of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign today strongly urged the Oklahoma legislature to override Governor Brad Henry's veto of a bill that would establish protections for women considering abortion and for health care workers who object to participating in abortion.

"The bill would require that a woman be offered the opportunity to view an ultrasound image of her unborn baby prior to an abortion," said Janet Morana, co-founder of SNMAC. "Gov. Henry said that it's 'unconscionable' for pregnant victims of rape or incest to be offered this choice. What is truly unconscionable is Governor Henry's abandoning these women to people whose only interest is making money off of their suffering."

"We have heard the testimonies of thousands of women who have been victimized and traumatized by abortionists," added Georgette Forney, another co-founder of SNMAC. "This bill is truly needed to protect a woman's right to informed consent and to protect the rights of health care workers.  I can barely believe that Gov. Henry would abandon the people of Oklahoma this way.  The state legislature needs to step up and override the Governor's veto."

Since the launching of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign in 2003, 2,326 women and men have shared their testimonies publicly at over 200 gatherings in 44 states and six countries where more than 15,000 spectators have heard the truth about abortion's negative aftereffects.  More than 4,100 people are registered to be Silent No More.  Raising awareness about the hurtful aftermath of abortion and the help that is available to cope with the pain are two of the Campaign's goals.
