Stand for Marriage Maine Makes Two Key Hires

PORTLAND, Maine, July 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- Stand for Marriage Maine today announced the hiring of two campaign professionals with deep experience in Maine to oversee key components of the People's Veto referendum to overturn a recent law legalizing same sex marriages. Scott K. Fish is the campaign's communications director and Ryan Harnden is the grassroots director.

"Scott has 20 years experience in both Maine media and Maine political campaigns," said Stand For Marriage Maine chairman, Marc Mutty. Fish is owner/editor of the state's premier political web site, AsMaineGoes.com, serving Maine since 1998. He is in his fifth year of writing the monthly Soapbox political column for Bangor Metro magazine. His counterfoil columnist is former State Representative Sean Faircloth who, at one time, was the House Democrat Whip in the Maine Legislature.

Fish has been active for over 20 years writing guest columns for Maine newspapers such as the Maine Sunday Telegram and the Bangor Daily News. He has guest-hosted several Maine talk radio shows, most notably WVOM (Bangor), WGAN (Portland), and WLOB (Westbrook). He has also been a frequent guest on Maine Public Broadcasting Network's "Public Opinion."

Fish also worked in the Maine State House for both Senate and House Republicans and was communications director for then-U.S. Representative Olympia Snowe's re-election campaign.

Harnden helped managed Maine's Senate Republican Committee's efforts in 2008, was the political director for the Waldo County Republican Committee and was a candidate for the Maine House of Representatives in 2006.
