Feder: Times Omitted Most Memorable Line in Obama's Turkey Speech

WASHINGTON, April 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- BoycottNYT.com editor Don Feder observed that The New York Times "was like a groupie screeching over a rock star" in its reporting of President Obama's speech to the Turkish parliament, on what Feder called his "America sucks" tour.

Feder noted that The Times praised as "bold" Obama's statement that he had lived in a Muslim country, and noted he was introduced as "Barack Hussein Obama." "Funny, during the campaign, when conservatives used Obama's middle name, The Times castigated us as bigots and smear artists. But it's alright for him to allude to his Muslim roots," he said.

Feder criticized the paper's omission of one of the most memorable lines in Obama's speech: "We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."

"Who did the president mean by 'we' when he said, 'We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation'? The editorial board of The New York Times?" Feder asked. "In a recent Newsweek poll, 62% said they consider America a Christian nation. It's hardly surprising that The Times would fail to report an Obama assertion directly contradicted by the evidence."

Feder also observed in separate postings that The Times ignored Obama's from-the-waist bow to the king of Saudi Arabia, and praised the president's pledge to reduce the United States' nuclear arsenal in response to North Korea's missile test.
