MADISON, Wis., Dec. 12, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Nike recently started a political action committee (PAC) to support gay marriage in Oregon. According to Life Decisions International they also support the nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

The Portland Business Journal is reporting that Nike formed a PAC to support marriage equality with a donation of $280,000.

"We are committed to diversity and inclusion and strive to treat our employees equally," Nike said in a statement. "We believe that diversity drives innovation and allows us to attract and retain world class talent. For Oregon businesses to attract and retain the best talent, we need fair and equitable laws that treat all Oregonians equally and prevent discrimination."

Steve McConkey, a sports minister since 1981, believes Nike's decision to support gay marriage sends a wrong message to Christians who oppose homosexuality.

"Nike's decision is not based on biblical morality but on furthering their marketing strategy throughout the world," said McConkey. "Nike has been fair to athletes in promoting the sport of track and field, however, I will not remain silent in their support of homosexuality."

Also, according to the website at Life Decisions International, Nike supports Planned Parenthood, an abortion provider.

According to their website, Life Decisions International brings together many of North America's leading experts for its primary mission of challenging the radical agenda of Planned Parenthood worldwide.

Life Decisions International has been working for the pro-life movement for over twenty years. They periodically compile a list of corporations that support Planned Parenthood, including JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Marriott Hotels, and Johnson & Johnson.

"Thankfully, many corporations have quit supporting Planned Parenthood," McConkey stated. "Unfortunately, Nike has not been one of them. They have joined others in opposing the morality of life beginning at conception."
